Too much Sand!

No….I’m not talking about bunkers, although I did spend a little quality time in them today :(

We played the front nine twice as they’re aerating the back nine this week. When they aerate the greens, they sand them - not the nice fluffy, tiny stuff… these are monster grains of sand (by comparison). Of course, when they aerate, they also over water, so, putting is a challenge…not only is it very wet, it’s got this sand on it (it’s probably actually a fertilizer, but it looks like sandy stuff).

I sucked the big one again today. I did manage one saving grace - a birdie on #9 the second time around (which was the 18th hole). I managed not to screw up my 3 1/2 foot putt.

Not only that, I got some great information that helped me fix some of the issues I was having last week. I was topping the ball horribly, but I didn’t feel I was raising up or peeking. It seems I must have been doing the same thing my friend was doing…collapsing my left arm. When I started thinking about it and keeping it straight, I started to consistently hit the ball much better.

So, getting a tip that helped me hit better and getting a birdie on the last hole helped to insure I would return for another try. I can hold off on giving up golf for bocce or shuffleboard (although I do like bocce, but I don’t see me playing it as much as I do golf!). :)

So Wednesday, I have another change to excel at conquering the front nine. I do hope I’m more successful than I was today!

LAW 13: All 3-woods are demon-possessed.

The Mets are in first place, 2 games ahead of the Phillies. Atlanta is coming to Shea tomorrow for a three-game series. They’re 12 games out of first :) That makes me almost as happy as the Mets being in first place does.
